 "Importance of Technology in Education"

First of all, what is Technology?

Technology refers to methods, systems, devices which are the result of scientific knowledge being used for practical purposes. In simple words, It is a branch of knowledge dealing with applied science.

 What is Technology in Education? 

Educational technology is a term used to describe a wide array of teaching-and-learning–related software and hardware that’s increasingly being used in college and university classrooms. The ultimate goal of educational technology, also referred to as Ed Tech, is to enable an improved learning environment, which in turn is meant to boost student outcomes. It has also been proven to increase student engagement and participation in class.

Educational technology is technology that typically aids in the facilitation of cooperation in an active learning setting. Educators can use educational technology to develop digital, interactive textbooks, gamify courses, take attendance, assign homework, hold quizzes and assessments, and receive real-time results linked to teaching subject, style, and format. Traditional education and teaching methods are being disrupted by educational technology, which allows both teachers and students to learn in an environment that makes use of now-common gadgets such as smartphones, computers, and tablets.

Importance of Educational Technology

Technology has a major impact on information access and acquisition, and hence on development. This is the basis for the presence of a massive scientific and cognitive revolution, which comprises making human life easier by expanding inventions in a variety of practical domains.

E-learning is one of the most significant contributions of technology to learning; the learner has control over his or her education system by regulating the learning process, the learning process's material, and communicating with colleagues in the learning process. E-learning has produced several applications that enable immediate reference to what the learner is asking for, such as discussion forums and libraries that allow questions to be asked and answered fast. Technological advancements have also enabled so-called open education, which allows persons with health issues or who live in distant regions to enroll in online courses. 

It was also the key to our learning during this global pandemic. We students had to adapt and acclimate to this 'new normal' learning style in which teaching was done online via digital platforms. All of us students began to meet on Zoom through the use of e-learning platforms such as Google Meet, Google Classroom, and a variety of other portals made possible by the use of technology. Through the use of Educational Technology, we are able to continue studying and learning as we achieve our goals and dreams.
